My Internship Experience in a Michelin-starred Restaurant

Experiencing an internship in a Michelin-starred kitchen is an unforgettable experience that can provide you with valuable skills and knowledge about the culinary world. Recently, I had the opportunity to intern in the kitchen of a Michelin-starred restaurant in Spain, and it was an experience that I will never forget.

My internship took place in a restaurant that had been awarded two Michelin stars. The kitchen was a bustling and dynamic environment, with chefs working together to create dishes that were not only beautiful but also tasted incredible. The chefs were all incredibly passionate about their work, and it was inspiring to see how much dedication they put into each dish.

My Role in the Kitchen

I was assigned to work as an assistant to the sous chef, who was responsible for overseeing the kitchen’s operations. My main duties included prepping ingredients, plating dishes, and helping the other chefs with their tasks. Initially, I found the work to be challenging, as the pace was fast, and there was a lot to learn. However, the other chefs were patient and supportive, and they were always willing to answer my questions and offer guidance.

One of the most valuable lessons I learned during my internship was the importance of attention to detail. Every aspect of a dish, from the presentation to the seasoning, was carefully considered, and it was fascinating to see how much thought went into each component. The chefs were also incredibly creative, and they were always experimenting with new flavours and textures.

The benefits of an internship

In addition to learning about cooking techniques and flavours, my internship also taught me about teamwork and collaboration. In a Michelin-starred kitchen, every member of the team plays a crucial role in ensuring that the dishes are prepared perfectly and served on time. I learned how to communicate effectively with my colleagues, and I also gained a greater appreciation for the hard work and dedication that goes into running a successful restaurant.

Overall, my internship in the Michelin-starred kitchen was an incredible experience that taught me a lot about the culinary world. I learned about new ingredients, cooking techniques, and flavours, and I also gained a better understanding of the teamwork and collaboration that goes into running a successful kitchen. If you’re considering an internship in a Michelin-starred restaurant, I highly recommend it – it’s an experience that you’ll never forget.
