Internship 2022 : Activities in Girona
You have chosen Girona as your internship place and you are afraid of not knowing what to do and where to go in your free time? Don’t worry, first of all, Northern Catalonia will be much cheaper than visiting a bigger city in Spain, starting with Barcelona. Among the cultural gems of Spain, we will explore the charming city of Girona.
Riu Onyar :
The walkways over the Onyar offer some of the most unforgettable views of Girona, including reflections of colorful building facades along the river.
Discover one of the best restaurants in the world:
Girona is home to the three-time Michelin-starred gourmet restaurant El Celler de Can Roca. The ice cream parlor La Rocambolesc, in the center of Girona, also serves artisanal desserts such as ice cream for gourmet customers.
Girona Cathedral :
During your days off from your internship, you can go see Lla Catedral de Girona which has the widest Gothic nave in the world. It was designed with three naves, but because they wanted to make it with only one, the work was interrupted and an argument ensued for 50 years.
Arab Baths:
In addition to visiting the cathedral during your internship, you can also go to see the Arab baths, located not far from the cathedral, whose origins date back to the end of the 12th century. These baths were built following the model of the Arab tradition, from which they take their name. They are composed of several successive rooms inspired by the baths of the Roman Empire, with water at different temperature levels.
Bars in Girona :
The further you move away, the more modern life appears. On every street corner, a window catches the eye. As everywhere in Catalonia, there are many bakeries, chocolate shops and delicatessens, but also bars, restaurants, bookstores with a surprising decoration.
Walk along the walls of Girona :
When you visit Girona during your internship, it is essential to gain height: not from a tower or a hill, but from the walls. This walkway, extended by the Romans, dates from the Carolingian period, in the 9th century. It is the largest Carolingian wall in Europe. If you do the whole walk, which we recommend, the walls run through the entire city center, from Plaça de Catalunya to the medieval city and the Passeig Arqueologic.
Visit Girona by night:
After your training day, take advantage of the nightfall for a last photo of the river from the bridge. Girona changes its face, the facades are illuminated, we want to redo the whole course of the day!
The bridges of Girona :
The whole city revolves around its many bridges. After a good day of training, you can go see the red bridge of Peixateries Velles, which offers the most beautiful view. As a bonus, we can play with its red metal structure in our shots. We would spend hours photographing Girona’s famous multicolored facades in a thousand and one ways.
If you make the decision to do an internship in Girona, not only will you not be bored, but you will be able to practice your internship at Animafest where you can be fed, housed and with a small salary as a benefit.
