Andorra is a tiny independent principality located between France and Spain in the Pyrenees. Andorra la Vella is the capital and highest in Europe. It is known for its ski resorts. Tourism is one of Andorra’s main industries, and the area offers excellent opportunities for winter sports. Legend has it that Charlemagne founded Andorra in 805 in recognition of the help given by the local inhabitants in their fight against the Saracens.
The first document that mentions the country is the act of consecration of the Cathedral of Santa Maria d’Urgell in the middle of the 9th century.
During the summer, in Andorra you can go hiking through the unrivalled scenery of the Pyrenees. Here is a selection of the most spectacular routes to discover on foot, by bike, on horseback or by car. Let yourself be enveloped by the joy of nature in the Andorran summer.
