Internship authorization in Spain

The internship residency is an authorization that allows the student to work legally in Spain, through an internship agreement, which allows the student to extend the legal stay in the country without the need for complex procedures.
Currently, in order to obtain an internship visa in Spain, you must apply in advance for the corresponding residence authorization before the immigration authorities. This authorization is processed in Spain and you need a series of requirements that are demanded to the citizens of countries not belonging to the European Union.
Who can apply for a residence permit for internships?
Students who have completed studies at level 6 or higher are eligible to apply. Any lower education will not be accepted and the application will be denied.
More specifically, the student must have completed his or her studies within the last two years, although those who are still pursuing their undergraduate degree may also apply for residency for internships.
And we are talking about studies that can be either in Spain or outside Spain. That is to say, you can request this authorization whether you are studying in Spain or in your country of origin.
*It is of vital importance to know that all foreign public documents must be previously legalized by the Spanish Consular Office with jurisdiction in the country where the document was issued or, if applicable, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

The period of validity of this residence authorization will have a duration of 6 months, unless the internship is for a shorter period. It can be extended only once and between both (the initial and the extension) will not exceed the term of 1 year.
The internship contract is of an employment nature and is provided for in Article 11.1 of the Workers’ Statute. The minimum duration of this contract will be 6 months and the maximum duration will be 2 years. Therefore, the term of the residency will be the same.
