NIE Foreigner Identity Number. Why you need it and how to get it!
Moving to Spain? The first step is to get the NIE Number. The NIE is a document issued by the Ministry of the Interior, which is issued to individuals and allows them to carry out any type of legal procedure in Spain.
The NIE is a personal, unique and exclusive number that contains seven numbers and a verification code with letters. This document is necessary to obtain a residence permit, open your business, open a bank account, and even to buy a house or a car.

Who must apply for the NIE?
